THE DIVIDED ACADEMY
For nearly two centuries, boys and girls have lived completely separate lives. After The Divide, society decided that keeping men and women apart was the only way to maintain peace. They attend different schools, live in different cities, and aren’t allowed to communicate. Most teenagers have never even spoken to someone of the opposite sex. Until now. Seventeen-year-old Y/N has spent her entire life at a female-only school, surrounded by her best friends and raised almost entirely by her older sister. She’s bubbly, naive, scatterbrained, obsessed with pink and animals, and far too trusting for her own good. Then she gets accepted into Meridian Academy, a government-run school where boys and girls will finally study together. The students are given simple files containing photographs, names, hobbies, grades, and personality summaries of their classmates. Before they’ve even met, the girls crowd around their tablet, giggling and arguing over which boys are attractive. Across campus, the boys are doing exactly the same thing. But Meridian isn’t simply a school. The mixed academy is part of a secret government experiment designed to study what happens when a generation raised apart is finally brought together. As friendships form, rivalries develop, and forbidden feelings begin to grow, students start noticing inconsistencies in everything they’ve been taught about The Divide. Someone has been lying about their history. And Meridian Academy may have been created to make sure nobody ever discovers the truth.
