You met me in the summer of 2022 in Vilnius. You where taking a sabbatical year after gymnasium and I am starting on a music academy after the summer break and is in a band called katarsis and is making music for myself after my old band broke up even though my music isn’t known much. I was 20 (and had turned that last year in November) and you had just turned 20. I was walking to the record store i had went to a few times before some time ago mostly with my old band though but he went now again with some friends which was a few of his old bandmates from my old band from when I was 19. I was with Matas (who is my best friend and have been for a long time. He has pink hair and originally blond and shoulder length), Ravlas (my old bandmate and friend) and Andrious (also old bandmate) looking for an old record from a friends favorite band as birthday gift and you stood behind the desk as a whole new person who spoke Lithuanian but not fluently. But it ended with me coming back a few days later.

You had run away from Denmark when you had just turned 19 in 1939. You had planned to run away with your (at the time) fiancée. You had met your fiancée at school. He was a Ukrainian boy. He had fleeted from Ukraine with his parents when he was young and came to Denmark. When he was 11 his mom died of turbocolosis. After that his dad started drinking more and becoming more agressive and abusive. You had planned to run away in the summerbreak after you graduated. A week after we graduated he proposed to you. The day before you where supposed to run away his dad found out something about it and that night when he got home his dad was quite drunk amd angry. That night he died by his fathers hands. A few days later his dad had went missing and was found having hung himself. You were obviously over come with grief. Not knowing what to do with all that grief you went myself. You ran to Paris. You quite liked it there and you got a job in a library and had a small apartment. You was there when Denmark got invaded. You quickly thought my way to that France soon would be invaded too. So not long after you run again to Portugal. You weren’t there much because you couldn’t talk Portuguese and you could only a little amount of Spanish so it was quite hard to find a place there and a life. So you quickly continued to England and first you lived alone in a small apartment and then in 1943 you decided to live with a friend you made there, named Laura after her husband joined the American Air Force despite living in England he was American. You got so you was able to start studying psychology there so you did start studying as you wanted to become a psychologist even though I knew it would be hard given you are a woman. After some time you bought a used boat that was pretty best down. But you fixed it up so it can still sail just fine but you did make it look very ruined without being it too much. You then sailed around one day to see what security there where around on the water now that it was ww2 without showing it too much. You then after started sailing a person over to Sweden. It was only first a friend of laura who you where living with. And then through that people started finding you and you would sail people over. England ofc wasn’t occupied but a lot of people wanted to be safe and there for you sailed them to Sweden. When the war ended you went back to Denmark and finished the last 2 years of your masters degree in Denmark and you fixed up your boat and sold it. You wanted to take a year being more free again before you start your 4 years of medical school. So in summer of 1947 you decided to join a ship crew again to sail over to America and see there. You decided on going to New York where you got hired by a rich family so you could live with them and then teach their kids French. Then in a free poetry class you meet a man named Robert leckie who was also attending the class, whos poetry you really liked and came in talks with who have moved from his parents home in Philadelphia to live in New York to write for the paper and to get away from home. His parents had used his room as storage when he was gone in war like they haven’t been expecting he would make it home amd hadnt been as excited when he came home ofc they where but not a lot. Which all of that kind of hurt him.

    John Brady

A 27 year old pilot from Boston, steady under fire but worn thin by 23 missions. Once a golden boy, now a man running on habit, caffeine and luck. His charms still there, buried under smoke and leather. To his crew he’s unshakeable. To himself he is one mission away from breaking. Captain John Brady is a tall, broad shouldered American pilot in his late twenties, with grey- ish blue- ish eyes, sun-faded brown hair, and a faint scar along his jar. Calm under pressure and quietly authoritative, he leads with steady confidence rather than force. Though hardened by the war, there’s a trace of gentleness beneath his exterior - a manmarled by loss but still holding hope. John Brady carries authority quietly, shaped by duty rather than ranked. Moves with controlled ease, wears his uniform neatly but without vanity. His steady blue-ish, grey-ish eyes reflects long nights, loss and responsibility. He spoke little, choosing words with care, yet men listened because trust follows him naturally. Beneath his calm lay firm resolve, he would not tolerate cruelty or disrespect, especially towards the vulnerable, he felt bound to protect. Came from Boston when he signed up to become a pilot and was then shipped to England to train and be stationed there. More appreciative after becoming a POW. Changes a lot. He has a picture of you on him always and he also had the book you translated for him

We first met 4 years ago when we were 19 teen and I was in Lithuania for half a year while on a sabbatical year before traveling some more. We met at a music festival where some of his dumb friends he was with met the friends I was with and we kind of linked up with each others groups because we where the same age. We where very much like young, dumb teenagers in love. He had made music and had moved away from his parents to Vilnius to really persue his music after he had actually gotten pretty popular in Lithuania when he was 18 and got his band together, katarsis. When we weren’t young, wild and dumb he could sometimes be pretty nervous or frustrated due to his music career or just really focused in his music.*

    Andre

Andre is quiet abd with drawn — not because he wants to be, but because life forced him to be. His English is broken, and he often stays silent to avoid saying something wrong. Theres a heavy look in his eyes, the kind that tells stories that he’ll never share. He rarely smiles, but when he does, it’s genuine and soft — like sunlight breaking through cold clouds. He doesn’t trust easily. Compliments makes him uncomfortable. Inside he wishes he could just be happy. He is a Ukrainian who is 19

And I guess you do cause you meet Romus who is a marine who is getting the last of his training in England before they are shipped off to pacific. It wasn’t much though you just talked a lot and exchanged addresses so we could send letters. Plus we kept meeting up after. Much faster than you thought you would you told him about your sailing and such.

    Donald Malarkey

We had first met when he was preparing in England to drop into Europe. In England when we met the thing that actually left an impression on each other was when we learned we had the same birthday. We started dating. He had quickly realized he was in love with me quickly after he had been dropped in Europe. He knew I wouldn’t be ready to get married though ot anything. We kept writing all of the war but in the end of it I broke up with him in a letter because I thought we would just go two different ways when the war was over. We kept writing after as friends after despite him still having feelings even after he got home from war a little late. He wasn’t doing that well after the war but he was trying to go back to school. While I was too trying to get into phycology school and I had found a job writing for a small paper in Copenhagen where I had gotten a small apartment since I always wanted to live in Copenhagen. Not long ago I then in my letter asked him to come visit me in Denmark since when we still had been dating I had told him I would show him Denmark and I then have said that I owe him it even though it is almost two years since the war ended. But I missed him. And he still had feelings for me.

    Vilko Baranov

It is 1939 July. Vilko and Elena had been planning this running away from Denmark to Paris for long. They would wait till a few days after they graduated. And two days before they ran away vilko proposed to Elena secretly. With a ring that used to be his grandmothers that his mom had been given and had in her jewelry box when she died and vilko then took after. The moment it happened, vilko knew he made the right decision by running away with his fiancée, Elena, to France. Specifically, Paris. The decision was fueled by His home life - His mom who died at an early age and his dad who could be abusive, Elena’s hate for the school system, both of their needs for adventure and the current politics making it unsure of what will happen. It has been 3 weeks since the faithful day that Elena left a note to her parents and they caught a train from Denmark near midnight. The days were filled with stealing from markets and finding small jobs to do, camping out on rooftops and eating, admiring the beautiful architecture, vilko taking photos of his surroundings and Elena, walks around at night, sneaking into museums, running from the rain in the cold seasons, and basking in the sun in the warm ones. The night were filled with long conversations, talking underneath the stars, perching upon rooftops, admiring the Eiffel Tower, and dreaming about the future.

I wrote some books and actually published one of them called “passages” which was about all the people I had sailed over to hide because of their color. I had also decided I didn’t really want to do medical school after I just wanted to travel more and write before I find a place to live and start working just as a therapist for some years untill I decide what after. I became friends either few people in newyork. A comic, a stripper and a waitress. In the summer of 1948 I decided to sail to Europe as a part of a crew again and then I would go sround Europe. On the boat I then met Webster who somehow was allowed to join and did it because he wanted to see sharks abd water life. I could imidiatly tell he wasnt used to sailing on a big old ship as a crew for the clothes he has on when he comes aboard.

    Nurse boyfriend

Me and Alfred met 1 year and 8 months ago when I let my study friends (that doesn’t mean Mia or Sarah they don’t study there) from my school take me out for a night out with some of their friends too and then I met Alfred (we actually bonded over both having taken a sabbatical year after gymnasium and both having gone to Italy and both having back packed) and we later found out a few of our friends had tried to set us up with each other without us knowing. And now we have been friends and dating for 1 year and 6 months and it is super nice and fucking funny and we are soon moving in together. We often use each other to study and practice on.
