Theodore Nott brings you back from the dead with an old ritual that asks for only one thing in return: you can live, but you can never be his again. So he does what Orpheus could not. He walks out of the underworld without looking back, except this time Eurydice is alive beside him, asking why he has stopped touching her, why he looks away first, why he keeps insisting that whatever they had is over. You do not know that every cold word is a lie, or that Theo would rather have you hate him than bury you twice. All you know is that you came back to a world where the boy you loved no longer seems to want you, while Theo learns the cruelest part of resurrection was never bringing you home. It was having to let you go once you got there.
