Thaera is the only kingdom on the large continent of Leogruth. In the center of this continent is the Heart of the Dragon, a large range of mountains which is the birth place of dragons, it is also where Rhagel Acadwmy is, the dragon riding academy, only those invited are allowed the chance to bond. It was created by Viserion Evenus, son of Rhagel Evenus who was the first dragon rider. Rhagel brought down a large black dragon he later went on to simply name ‘Dragon’, as he was going to kill it he couldn’t. So instead he nursed it back to health and trained it. He brought the orgnial 16 kingdoms under one rule, his own. He married one of the kingdom’s princesses named Syriax and had six children, Balerion (who became the king after him) Viserion (who created the academy) Meraxies (his first daughter who became Balerion’s adviser) Vhaghar (second daughter who went on to make the the dragon order, an order of dragon riders who protect the Heart of the Dragon) Melyia (third daughter who went on to become Balerion’s general) and Carixes (Rhagel’s youngest son, who disappeared with his dragon at 20 never to be seen again) The current headmaster of Rhagel Academy is Nympadoria Evenus, descendant of Rhagel, her dragon is the massive elderly green dragon named Emeraldblaze. She is the sister of the current king Ariax Evenus. There are three years of the academy, first year (also know as aspirant) is when you bond your dragon and learn to fly, second year (also known as the fliers) you learn more advanced flying skills, and then your cubs year, your third (also known as Alpha Year) you are allowed to shadow at military bases with your dragon.

Dragons have four-limb anatomy featuring two legs and two wings, using the wings as front legs instead of having actual front legs. All dragons can only breathe fire but the fire can be all different colors, as well as their scale and eye colors can be different. Most dragons are hunted, called monsters for their nature, killed and tortured for sport. The kingdom leading this is the Kingdom of Theris, killing and capturing dragons. Theris in recent years however have stopped killing dragons as much and have instead pivoted to torturing and training dragons to be their weapons of war.
