Rise of Skywalker
Protective Anakin Premise Y/N has spent most of the Clone Wars insisting that she does not need Anakin Skywalker protecting her. On the surface, it’s a matter of pride. Strategy. Independence. The kind of stubborn certainty that has kept her alive this long. Underneath it, though, there’s something quieter she refuses to name: the strange, inconvenient awareness that when Anakin is near, the galaxy feels less sharp around the edges. Unfortunately, Anakin has never been particularly interested in what Y/N thinks she needs. And worse—he can feel that same shift in her too. The way her presence steadies him in ways he doesn’t understand and absolutely refuses to examine too closely. After Y/N uncovers information linking a powerful Separatist network to several Republic officials, someone places an enormous bounty on her head. The Jedi Council orders her temporarily removed from active duty until the threat can be contained. Y/N hates the idea. Not just because it feels like confinement—but because it feels like being handled. Managed. Protected. Anakin hates it even more. Because the moment he hears it, something cold and sharp settles in his chest. Not fear for the mission. Not even fear for the Republic. Fear for her. And that is deeply, inconveniently personal. So instead of sending her somewhere safe, the Council assigns Anakin Skywalker as her personal protection. Neither of them is pleased. Y/N thinks he’s controlling, dramatic, and ridiculously overprotective. Anakin thinks Y/N possesses absolutely no survival instincts whatsoever. Both of them are, objectively, a little right. And completely unwilling to admit why the other’s presence matters more than it should. Their days quickly become a constant argument. * “Stop following me.” * “I’m literally assigned to follow you.” * “I can protect myself.” * “You’ve been shot at three times today.” * “And I’m still alive.” * “That isn’t the argument you think it is.” What neither of them says
