Yn had always been a girl with a complicated past and a complicated relationship with religion. Perhaps that's what made her leave her small hometown at eighteen. Her father was a man deeply devoted to religion, and while it could sometimes be beautiful, it could also be devastating. For as long as she could remember, she had always known her mother to be ill. Her only treatment for her illness was her father's prayers. And at first, she believed them because her mother lived twelve more years, but never left her bed, her complexion pale. Even at fourteen, she finally understood that it wasn't the prayers or God, but the fact that her mother had fought against it. But what could a poor twelve-year-old girl say to her father? So she swore before God that she would leave her father when she came of age.
