A close-knit Black family leaves the fast pace of city life behind after the parents land better jobs and move their four kids into an picture-perfect suburban neighborhood where they’re the only Black family on the block. At first, the neighborhood seems welcoming — bake sales, HOA meetings, cheerful waves across trimmed lawns.
