it’s 2025. stranger things season 5 comes out in a few weeks, and the cast of stranger things are currently on the press tour for the final season, going to many interviews. noah schnapp is very disappointed with the way the last seasons script played out, the duffers basically queerbaited an entire fandom with byler, just to have the ship go nowhere. why build it all up, the lingering looks, the many retakes of scenes to get the facial expressions just right.. all the little details.. and up meaning absolutely nothing. the writing of the last season is just shitty all around, els character gets an ambiguous death, no update on the rovickie ship, nancy and jonathan broke up, and the worst of all. the fact that the character mike wheeler could have went down as one of the best repressed queer representations ever. its not like noah just let it all happen, he certainly suggested scenes and ideas to the duffs, but of course they were never used maybe it all felt a little too real for noah, hit a little too close to home. it bothers him, think about all the young will’s out in the world who would have felt seen, all the old gay men who were around in the 80s, seeing a story so similar to themselves. maybe it felt a little too real because of how close noah and finn wolfhard are. noah’s had a crush on finn for years, how could you not? i mean, have you even *seen* finn wolfhard? the two are close, of course they are, they’ve spent nearly a decade acting along side each other, growing up with each other. so here’s the deal. millie knows that noah likes finn, obviously.. since millie and noah are best friends. caleb and gaten both have a feeling that finn likes noah back. noah, for years, has had to push aside his feelings for finn.. i mean cmon.. finn might not even like guys. sure, he was always really touchy and close with jack dylan grazer during the ‘it’ movie press, and there was that one interview when they were younger where finn pulled up his pant leg to show his long socks, which had what appeared to be the colors of the bisexual flag on it. noah’s seen the posts online, people analyzing every little detail between finn and noah.. they even gave them a ship name; ‘foah’. everytime noah sees an edit of them, or a post of people discussing their body language, it makes his stomach flip. because he has a feeling that the fans may not be wrong, but he couldn’t live with himself if he made a move on finn, and he was wrong about his assumptions.

[stranger things 5, takes place 18 months after the events of season 4, all characters aged up to 18 years old, all attend hawkins community college, besides nancy and jonathan] hawkins, indiana; fall 1987. trapped in the upside down au, mike wheeler is a little shit. the upside down has started to seep into hawkins. mike has just been broken up with by el. after the events of the nina project, el decided she needs to focus on herself (and maybe a little to do with the fact that mike couldn’t manage to say ‘i love you’ to her). mike is clearly suprised, and asks el if everything she said to will back in lenora, when will gave mike the painting he worked on for months. of course, el has no fucking clue what he’s talking about, and mike finds out that everything will said about el “needing him”, none of it was true, none of it was ever said. mike goes outside to find will, and in typical mike wheeler fashion, pesters will about why he lied. mid convo, a gate opens, and will falls into the upside down, and mike follows after him. while trapped, eventual discovery of wills powers(tehehe maybe triggered by the need to protect mike). after coming back, will and robin have their cannon season 5 convo about signals, touches, will asks how she knew that vickie wanted to date. extra slow build, takes them a while to confess to their feelings.
(cannon “stranger things” characters, season 4 plot line, characters aged up by 3 or 4 years, making all of the party 18 years old, holly wheeler is now 8.) hawkins, indiana; summer of 1986. the party has just graduated high school. max is out of her coma, now blind, but she humors her way through it with the support of lucas. back in march, mike wheeler went to visit lenora, california for spring break, to see his girlfriend, el “jane” hopper, and his best friend since forever, will byers. during this trip, this is when mike and el have their cannon fight about all of mikes letters having been signed “from, mike” and not “love, mike”. mike cared for el, but did he love her? that he wasn’t exactly sure of. the two end up mutually breaking up, but things end off on good terms, because of course, they were friends before they started dating. el also informs mike that she didn’t have will commission that painting back in lenora, in fact she had no clue what the word commission even meant. fast forward a few months later, and none of the party knows the two have broken up, neither of them having thought or felt like mentioning it. now that it’s summer, jonathan, will, and el come back to hawkins to visit for the summer, and thus begins some strange feelings stirring up for mike, pertaining to his best friend. you know that sort of scene in a cheesy 80s movie, when the main crush has this sort of glow filter around them as the love interest notices them for the first time? that’s what it was like when mike sees will again, and he can’t quite place the feeling, he tells himself it’s just because he missed his best friend. with robin now intergrated into the group, her and will hit off, platonically of course, because the two of them are gay, respectively, and they bond over that. mike of course, doesn’t realize this, and he thinks that will has a crush on robin, and is mike… jealous? huh. he tells himself it’s just because he missed his best friend, but is that really all? and if that’s true, then why does mikes heart race whenever him and will accidentally even brush hands? mike confesses first au!!
