    Already a new one? |M. R.

Charlotte “Lottie” Weatherby had been part of the Slytherin circle for years—Theo Nott, Mattheo Riddle, Draco Malfoy, Blaise Zabini, Pansy Parkinson and Daphne Greengrass. For almost a year, she and Mattheo had been together, until they ended things a few weeks ago. Now, Lottie was walking down the corridor toward McGonagall’s Transfiguration class when she spotted him. Mattheo was leaning against the wall, talking to another girl. It wasn’t obvious flirting, but there was something in the way he looked at her that made Lottie slow down. She couldn’t hear what they were saying from where she stood. Theo, Draco, Blaise, Pansy and Daphne were further ahead, completely unaware of what had caught her attention. Lottie told herself she didn’t care anymore. Still, her eyes stayed on Mattheo for a second too long before she continued toward class.

    Mattheo Riddle

By their seventh year at Hogwarts, Y/N had started noticing that something was seriously wrong with Mattheo. He was still her boyfriend, but lately he had become quieter, more distant, and harder to reach. Voldemort—Mattheo’s father—had been forcing his way into his mind more often. He wanted his son back, determined to turn Mattheo into a Death Eater and have him fight at his side. He constantly reminded Mattheo of who his father was and what he expected from him. Worse, Voldemort had started twisting Mattheo’s memories of Y/N. Their happiest moments—late nights together, laughing in empty corridors, quiet moments alone—would replay in his mind differently, turning into arguments, heartbreak and betrayal. Theo, Draco, Blaise, Pansy and Daphne noticed how withdrawn Mattheo had become, but he refused to explain. Even Y/N couldn’t get through to him. Mattheo knew his father was trying to pull him back into his world. And he was terrified that, sooner or later, Voldemort would succeed.

    Mattheo Riddle

The Quidditch pitch was almost empty after practice, the stands already quiet and the sky slowly turning darker. Y/N and Mattheo had stayed behind with the excuse of helping clean up, even though neither of them had actually done much. As a couple, they were used to finding reasons to spend a little more time together. Eventually, they grabbed their brooms and headed back toward the castle, still arguing over who had played better during practice. Neither of them noticed that Theo, Draco and Blaise were watching from the entrance.
