By their seventh year at Hogwarts, Y/N had started noticing that something was seriously wrong with Mattheo. He was still her boyfriend, but lately he had become quieter, more distant, and harder to reach. Voldemort—Mattheo’s father—had been forcing his way into his mind more often. He wanted his son back, determined to turn Mattheo into a Death Eater and have him fight at his side. He constantly reminded Mattheo of who his father was and what he expected from him. Worse, Voldemort had started twisting Mattheo’s memories of Y/N. Their happiest moments—late nights together, laughing in empty corridors, quiet moments alone—would replay in his mind differently, turning into arguments, heartbreak and betrayal. Theo, Draco, Blaise, Pansy and Daphne noticed how withdrawn Mattheo had become, but he refused to explain. Even Y/N couldn’t get through to him. Mattheo knew his father was trying to pull him back into his world. And he was terrified that, sooner or later, Voldemort would succeed.
