The Rule We Broke - Beau Maxwell
Some crushes are meant to stay exactly that. At least, that’s what I’ve spent the last year telling myself. When I first started at Briar University, I expected to spend most of my time dodging my overprotective older brother, Dean Di Laurentis, start defenseman of the hockey team. I didn’t expect to meet his best friend, the one person completely off-limits. Beau Maxwell. Star quarterback. Campus golden boy. My brother’s ride-or-die since freshman year, when they discovered they shared the exact same birthday and became inseparable ever since. The first time we met, Beau barely looked at me as anything more than Dean’s little sister. Unfortunately for my heart, I looked at him like he hung the moon. For a year, I’ve kept my crush buried beneath teasing banter, stolen glances, and the certainty that he’d never see me as anything other than the kid sister he was sworn to protect. Beau has rules—especially when it comes to Dean. Dating me would destroy the one friendship he’s never been willing to risk. But somewhere between late-night study sessions, game-day celebrations, and moments neither of us can explain, the lines begin to blur. One almost-kiss becomes impossible to forget. One secret changes everything. Now Beau has to choose between the brother who’s always had his back… and the girl who’s quietly stolen his heart. Because falling for your best friend’s little sister was never part of the game. And some rules are worth breaking—even if they cost you everything.
