At Briarwood Academy of Performing Arts, everyone is chasing their big break. Y/N thought sophomore year would be about perfecting their music, landing bigger acting roles, and making it through another year with their closest friends. Then a collaborative music class throws them together with Jaden, an intense alt-rock producer who challenges everything they know about their sound. Meanwhile, Y/N’s acting career keeps putting them opposite Jeremy—a charismatic chameleon whose ability to make every scene partner shine creates a chemistry neither of them can ignore. Between auditions, productions, late-night rehearsals, friendships, rivalries, and feelings that refuse to stay backstage, Y/N is about to discover that at Briarwood, the hardest part of being a performer isn’t knowing your lines. It’s figuring out what happens when you go off script.
They’re both deeply, stupidly in love, and they’re both terrible at being in love. YN gets jealous easily but refuses to admit it. She’ll become distant, sarcastic, or deliberately flirt with someone else just to see if he notices. He notices immediately, gets pissed off, and then acts like he couldn’t care less. He gets possessive but hates feeling possessive, so instead of saying “I didn’t like seeing you with him,” he’ll become cold and obnoxiously casual about it. YN immediately knows what he’s doing and pushes harder because now she wants him to admit that he cares. Neither of them knows how to just say, “That hurt my feelings.” So they provoke each other. They test each other. They get jealous. They say things they don’t mean because they know exactly where the other person is vulnerable.
