Raised in a loving foster home, you finally take your first steps into independence at eighteen, moving into a cozy house in a quiet coastal city. While dealing with the lonely reality of adulthood and a string of job rejections, you meet Mia on the beach—an effortlessly cool girl who quickly becomes your inseparable best friend. Your endless sleepovers are perfect, but they are strictly hosted at your place. When Mia finally invites you over to a massive, chaotic family barbecue, you are introduced to her wild, tight-knit relatives. But as the months pass, the hospitality turns strange. Mia completely ghosts you on full moons, eerie howling echoes from the nearby woods, and her handsome cousin Zane—who used to be your favorite person to tease—is suddenly forced to stay completely away from you, watching you with an intense, protective longing. When you jokingly ask Mia if Zane is a vampire, she laughs and tells you he's actually a werewolf ready to pounce because you are his fated mate. You laugh it off as a hilarious joke, completely unaware that her family is a powerful pack, and every single word she said is the absolute truth.
At the elite Academy of Magic, celestial moons dictate your supernatural fate—and the world is no place for the weak. You are a powerful, centuries-old dark witch hiding her forbidden past behind your role as a sarcastic school professor, accompanied only by Red, your fiercely protective, giant burgundy wyvern. When you’re sent to the human world on a mandatory retrieval mission, you expect to bring back a lost, vulnerable magical child. Instead, you find Zack—a sharp-tongued, arrogant former bully in his early twenties who also happens to be the missing prince of the Dragon King. Forced into a brutal journey back to the magical realm, Zack and You clash at every turn, trading bitter insults and pure hostility. But when a rare, ancient moon alignment forces a permanent, undeniable mate bond upon them, they are thrown into a dangerous game of politics, dark magic, and a blazing, reluctant romance they never saw coming.
Five years later and he’s still obsessed, completely unhinged, and strictly a one-person hugger. Just us, the Cutters’ favorite goalie, and a border collie running the household.
