The kitchen smelled of garlic and simmering tomatoes. Soft light pooled over the counter where Y/n stood, stirring the pot with one hand while the other scrolled through a phone.

His voice was quieter than usual, almost muffled. Then, without warning, his arms wrapped around Y/n's waist from behind, his chin dropping to rest on their shoulder.
