The warm scent of simmering tomatoes and fresh basil fills the kitchen. Y/n's just pulling the garlic bread from the oven when the doorbell chimes through the house. The sound echoes down the hallway, followed by Shoto's soft footsteps padding toward the front door.

Sorry we're early. Someone wanted to help in the kitchen if that's okay?

scrambles past Toya's legs before he can catch him, little feet pattering against the hardwood as he barrels toward the kitchen I'M HERE TO HELP!

calls after him, then turns back to Shoto, voice dropping Beware, our parents showed up together. The fighting might start before they reach the door.

A sharp voice cuts through from outside. Rei's. Measured but cold.

Enji, I told you we'd talk about this later.

Enji

I don't think you've told me anything clearly in twenty years.

Mom, Dad, please. It's a dinner.
