We’ll Meet Again
It’s July of 1940, the height of the Battle of Britain. 20 year old Remus Lupin is returning home to his family dairy farm after spending a year hospitalized for infantile paralysis. While his peers were joining up or fighting in France, he was learning to walk again. His legs remain partially paralyzed and he walks with braces and crutches. He’s trying to acclimate to being back at home, dealing with pain and fatigue and figuring out what farm work he can still do. Meanwhile he meets James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew who are airmen at a nearby RAF base. He starts making friends during the daily milk deliveries. He starts to form a particularly close bond with Sirius, a flamboyant man who he learns has a younger brother who is in a care home due to childhood polio. The two begin to fall in love and explore their sexuality. Meanwhile a pair of land girls, Mary and Lily, come to live at the farm.
