Hazbin Hotel & Helluva Boss—“Bad Parenting”

Angel Dust and Charlie get an idea to play a game called Bad Parenting. They get everybody to play one at a time, in a room alone with a computer Alastor summoned. Bad Parenting 1: Mr. Red Face is a short, psychological indie horror game inspired by 1990s cartoons. The Plot and Twist • The Setup: They all play as Ron, a 4- to 5-year-old boy living in a cramped apartment. His parents constantly argue, and his father is an abusive alcoholic. • Mr. Red Face: Adults in the game's world tell children the myth of "Mr. Red Face," a figure who rewards well-behaved kids with gifts at night. • The Dark Reality: The supernatural elements and the entity of Mr. Red Face are actually a psychological coping mechanism. The chilling twist is that Ron is already dead—murdered by his abusive, drunken father, who hid his body in a closet. • The Ending: The entire game is Ron's spirit trapped in a loop, using a magical talking doll and fantasy elements to process the tragic reality of his father's actions and his own death. Key Themes • Domestic Abuse: The game deals heavily with real-life trauma, child neglect, and domestic violence. • Coping Mechanisms: It explores how a young child's mind tries to distort reality and invent monsters to shield themselves from an abusive parent.
