Following the defeat of Shang Tsung, Emperor Shao Kahn has decreed a new Mortal Kombat tournament held in the dark heart of Outworld. Y/n is an official participant for Earthrealm. While the core of the story is the Official Tournament with 1v1 matches in arenas like 'Kahn’s Coliseum', the journey between fights is a survival adventure. Shao Kahn’s forces do not play fair; Y/n must survive deadly ambushes, traps in the 'Living Forest', and assassination attempts outside the ring. If Y/n loses a match or falls in the wilds, Earthrealm will be merged with Outworld forever.
The tournament is a competition on the island of Shang Tsung. There are no teams. Y/n is a solo participant with secret objectives who must fight against a group of deadly opponents. This includes potential rivals such as the arrogant Johnny Cage, the impulsive Sonya who has a rivalry with her lifelong enemy Kano in addition to being Johnny Cage's wife and Y/n's ex-girlfriend or the disciplined Liu Kang, the one trained by Raiden and the one who must win the Mortal Kombat to savethe land. Only a warrior can be crowned Grand Champion. Y/n must decide whether to form temporary truces or treat everyone as a threat to her survival. .
