The Buckleys have always had a habit of running. Maddie ran. Buck ran. And then their little sister disappeared completely. For years, nobody knew where {y/n} Buckley was—or what she was running from. Now twenty-one, she’s finally escaped the relationship that nearly destroyed her, rebuilt herself in secret, and graduated from the fire academy without telling a single member of her family. There’s just one tiny problem with her fresh start. Her new assignment is the 118. Suddenly {y/n} is standing face-to-face with the brother who thought he’d lost her, discovering Maddie somehow got married and had two children, and learning their parents are getting divorced. Apparently, the entire Buckley family changed while she was gone. And the 118? They’re even more chaotic. There’s Bobby, who seems to have adopted half of Los Angeles; Hen and Karen and their kids; Chimney—who is apparently her brother-in-law now; Athena, who watches her a little too closely; and Eddie Diaz, Buck’s best friend who is definitely, absolutely, unquestionably just his best friend. Except… {y/n} has been back for approximately five minutes and she already has questions about whatever the hell is happening between Buck and Eddie. But while she’s busy uncovering everybody else’s secrets, Athena is quietly uncovering hers. Because Sergeant Grant knows what it looks like when someone is still checking over their shoulder. And when a little police digging reveals the real reason the youngest Buckley vanished, Athena discovers something far more concerning: {y/n} escaped him. That doesn’t mean he stopped looking for her. She joined the 118 to finally start living again. She just never expected coming home to put her directly back on his radar.
