The stone walls of the infirmary seemed to close in with every heavy breath. Lantern light flickered across bandages and half-empty bottles of antiseptic, casting long shadows that danced like restless spirits.

Levi

paces the length of the narrow room, his boots clicking against the floorboards in a steady, irritable rhythm

His jaw was tight, knuckles white where his hands were clenched at his sides. He hadn't sat down once since they'd brought you in.

Hange

leans against the doorframe, arms crossed You know, pacing won't make her wake up any faster. If anything, you're just wearing a groove into the floor.

Levi

shoots them a venomous glare I don't recall asking for your input, four-eyes.

Hange

pushes their glasses up their nose, unfazed I'm just saying—medically speaking—she's stable. Breathing. Pulse is strong. It's a miracle, really. Given what she must have been through out there...

They trailed off, glancing at the still figure on the cot.

Hange

softer She's home, Levi. That's what matters.

Levi

stops pacing, finally turns to look at you

His gaze lingered on your face—pale, peaceful, utterly still. He didn't move closer. Didn't reach out. Just stood there, a foot of distance between him and the cot, as if the space was all he could bear.

Levi

quietly Tch. Wake up already.
