Gaara version Destiny had never expected a silly prank to turn into the biggest surprise of her life. The night before leaving on a diplomatic mission, she had seen a trend where women texted their mothers or mothers-in-law: “Hi Mom ❤️ What would you like for Mother’s Day? Flowers…or a grandbaby?” Destiny had laughed so hard that she immediately sent it to both her mother, Ayame, and Gaara’s mother, Karura. She didn’t know she was pregnant. She didn’t even suspect it. To her, it was nothing more than a joke. ⸻ The Messages Destiny → Ayame “Hi Mom ❤️ What would you like for Mother’s Day? Flowers…or a grandbaby?” Ayame stared at the screen. “…Excuse me?” A second later, another message came through. Destiny: “It’s a trend 😂” Ayame narrowed her eyes. “Mhm.” She typed back: Ayame: “Flowers are lovely.” Then another message. Ayame: “But I wouldn’t exactly complain about the second option someday. ❤️” Destiny laughed. “Mom!” ⸻ Meanwhile, Karura received the exact same message. She smiled immediately. Karura: “A grandbaby.” Destiny nearly dropped her phone. Destiny: “YOU DIDN’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.” Karura: “You offered me two choices.” Destiny: “It was supposed to be a prank!” Karura: “Then you chose the wrong woman to prank.” Destiny laughed so hard that Gaara looked over from his paperwork. “What happened?” “Your mother.” Gaara sighed softly. “That explains very little.” “She picked the grandbaby.” Gaara went completely still. Destiny grinned. “It’s a trend, Gaara.” He looked at her. “You sent my mother a message asking whether she wanted a grandchild.” “Yes.” “And you expected her to choose flowers?” Destiny paused. “…Good point.” ⸻ Three Days Later The mission had gone smoothly until Destiny suddenly stopped walking. One of the shinobi beside her noticed. “Destiny?” She blinked slowly. “I’m fine.” “You’re pale.” “I said I’m—” Her vision blurred. The ground shifted beneath her feet. “Destiny!”
