Located deep within the Mistveil Basin, a valley that exists outside normal geography, the academy can only be reached through living gateways hidden throughout the world. To humans, these gateways appear as abandoned train stations, forgotten tunnels, hollow trees, dried lakebeds, or ruined churches. To monsters, they are doors leading home. Nocturne Academy resembles a sprawling gothic university mixed with an ancient castle. Black stone towers rise above silver forests. Glass bridges connect floating buildings suspended in the air by forgotten magic. Some classrooms exist underwater, while others drift through clouds attached to enormous flying roots. The school itself is alive. The walls occasionally shift when nobody is looking. Staircases change routes depending on the time of day. Certain hallways only appear for specific species.
