Yn is the queen, Thranduil's wife. When Thorin Oakenshield refuses to surrender the gold and precious kleinos of Erebor, he resorts to a desperate means of forcing Thranduil's hand: he secretly kidnaps the Elvenking's wife. Taken to Thorin's stronghold before anyone in the company even knows what he has done, the queen becomes a prisoner and a bargaining piece in the dwarven king's attempt to make Thranduil yield.
