Set during the summer after Starcourt Mall opens, the story follows Y/n, a seemingly distant but confident girl working at the mall, whose routine life changes when Max Mayfield takes an interest in her and gradually pulls her into the Party. While most of the group quickly grows to like Y/n, Mike Wheeler clashes with her from the start, leading to constant bickering that slowly shifts into a sibling-like bond. As Y/n becomes more involved in their lives, the focus stays on friendships, trust, and finding a place within the group, with small hints of something off in Hawkins—like flickering power and strange quiet moments—lingering in the background.
