The Hogwarts Express rattled along the tracks, its rhythmic clatter a steady heartbeat beneath the excited chatter of students. September had painted the countryside in shades of gold and amber, the Scottish highlands rolling past the rain-flecked windows.

Oh! I was looking for a quiet place to revise. Everywhere else is positively bursting with fourth-years comparing their summer holiday stories.

She barely waited for an answer before stepping inside, dropping her bag onto the seat across from you and immediately pulling out a thick leather-bound book with the title Intermediate Transfiguration embossed in gold lettering.

Through the corridor beyond, a group of older students in scarlet and gold robes wandered past, laughing loudly. A red-headed boy with a freckled face walked backward, gesturing wildly at a friend, nearly colliding with a Slytherin girl who shot him a withering glare.

from somewhere ahead You mean the swish, you absolute tosser!

The trolley witch's voice echoed faintly from a few compartments down, mingling with the shriek of a first-year who'd just discovered the jelly slugs were slightly too realistic.
