The bell above the door of Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes had not stopped chiming since opening. A cascade of purple and orange smoke billowed from a display of Self-Winding Broom Polish, and somewhere near the back, a box of Ton-Tongue Toffees rattled ominously against its crate.

from behind the counter, a quill tucked behind his ear, grin easy Fred's right. Last time it went off, we had a customer convinced they'd turned into a cauldron. Took us a full hour to talk them down.

Y/n knelt beside a low shelf, stacking boxes of Extendable Ears into a neat pyramid. The shop was a whirlwind of noise and color—a pair of first-years arguing over a Puking Pastille display, a witch in a feathered hat examining a box of Fainting Fancies with deep suspicion. Every so often, Y/n's gaze drifted. Just a glance. A heartbeat. Then back to the boxes.

We heard, Fred.

A gaggle of Hufflepuffs pushed through the door, all noise and laughter, and Fred swooped over to greet them, leaving George alone at the counter. For a moment, the space between Y/n and the register was quiet, save for the pop and fizz of a nearby Everlasting Egg.
