Gray and Juvia are traveling back to Magnolia when a powerful snowstorm forces them off the road. Juvia suddenly hears a baby’s cries through the wind. They follow the sound and find a baby girl lying in the snow beneath a nearly buried tree. Destiny’s blankets have become completely soaked, leaving her exposed to the freezing wind. Her light brownish-black hair is plastered against her forehead, her skin is bright pink, and her hazel-green eyes are filled with fear. Juvia immediately removes the freezing water from Destiny’s blankets with her magic. Gray presses the baby against his bare chest beneath his coat, desperately trying to share his body heat with her. Although Destiny possesses Ice and Snow Dragon Slayer Magic, she is too young to control it. Her magic has kept her alive, but it cannot fully protect her. Near the place where they find her, Juvia discovers a handwritten note from Destiny’s mother. It explains that Destiny is an Ice and Snow Dragon Slayer and begs whoever finds her to care for her. Her mother claims that she did not survive long after Destiny’s birth. However, Gray notices footprints in the snow. Someone carried Destiny into the forest and left her there recently, meaning there may be more to her mother’s disappearance. Gray and Juvia take Destiny to a nearby cabin and manage to stabilize her. During the night, Destiny refuses to release Gray’s finger. The moment reminds him of Ur, who rescued and raised him after Deliora destroyed his home. When they return to Fairy Tail, Gray announces that Destiny is staying with him. Juvia promises to help raise her, and the guild welcomes the baby into their family. As Destiny grows, Gray teaches her patience, discipline and ice-make techniques, while Juvia teaches her compassion and control. Destiny lovingly calls them Papa Gray and Mama Juvia. Years later, the truth begins to surface. Destiny wasn’t abandoned by her mother—she was hidden from a dark guild
