Gajeel and Levy finish a dangerous mission in the distant town of Bellmore. That evening, freezing rain forces them to wait inside an old railway station for the final train to Magnolia. Gajeel suddenly hears a baby crying outside. Levy follows him behind the station, where they discover an abandoned basket underneath a broken awning. The rain has leaked through, soaking the baby and her blankets. Levy immediately uses Solid Script to create the word WARMTH, surrounding the baby with gentle heat. Gajeel removes his cloak and wraps it around the infant. When he holds her, he senses Dragon Slayer Magic inside her. The baby is frightened by his appearance at first, but she becomes fascinated by the metal studs on his face. When she touches one, frost spreads across his cheek. Inside the basket, Levy finds a letter written in an ancient language. The message identifies the child as Destiny, an Ice and Snow Dragon Slayer. Destiny’s mother begs whoever finds her to protect and love her because she did not survive after giving birth. Gajeel notices several different scents nearby, along with wagon tracks leading away from the station. He realizes Destiny’s mother may not have personally left her there. Someone else transported Destiny to Bellmore, possibly to hide her from dangerous people. Although Gajeel initially insists they should hand Destiny over to the authorities, he cannot bring himself to release her. He remembers the person he used to be and how Fairy Tail gave him a second chance. Protecting Destiny becomes his way of proving that he can create something better than the pain he once caused. Levy agrees to raise Destiny with him. When they return to Fairy Tail, Gajeel announces that the baby is now their daughter. Panther Lily immediately accepts the position of Destiny’s uncle—and the only responsible adult in the household. As Destiny grows older, Levy teaches her to read ancient magical texts while Gajeel trains her Dragon Slayer senses
