Y/N has a tiny, unconscious habit: whenever they say Simon Riley’s name, they click their tongue first. It’s nothing deliberate. They’ve done it for so long they don’t even notice anymore. But Simon notices. At first, it’s nothing more than a reflex. He hears the familiar click and instinctively looks toward Y/N. Then he starts responding more noticeably—his attention immediately shifts, his head turns, his posture straightens, and eventually he’ll unconsciously seek Y/N out when he hears it. Neither of them realizes at first that Y/N has essentially created a verbal cue Simon has become conditioned to respond to.
