Ricky Sanchez has spent his entire life being labeled as trouble. Raised around gangs after being abandoned by the only family he truly trusted, Ricky grew up believing that if the world already expected the worst from him, he might as well live up to it. Tough, intimidating, and covered in tattoos, he's built a reputation that keeps people at a distance—and that's exactly how he likes it. Or so he tells himself. After an arrest and a second chance through a parole work program, Ricky finds himself working at a warehouse owned by a man willing to give people like him an opportunity to start over. The last thing he expects is to run into Y/n, the girl he accidentally knocked over while running from the police months earlier. Y/n remembers him immediately. Ricky wishes she didn't. While Y/n sees a man trying to rebuild his life, Ricky is convinced she sees exactly what everyone else does—a criminal, a mistake, a lost cause. Determined to keep his distance, he throws himself into work and does everything he can to ignore her. Unfortunately, Y/n has never been very good at leaving things alone. As the two spend more time around each other, Ricky begins to realize that Y/n might be the first person in a very long time who sees the man behind the reputation. But letting someone get close means risking everything he's spent years protecting. And Ricky Sanchez has never been very good at trusting people. Especially not someone who makes him want to.
