Scaramouche was the popular one. Everyone knew him—his sharp personality, confident attitude, and effortless ability to draw attention wherever he went. You, on the other hand, preferred the shadows. You were quiet, kept to yourself, and were usually content standing beside your best friend without saying much. But being Scaramouche’s best friend came with a downside. People rarely approached you because they actually wanted to talk to you. They asked you about him, his plans, his interests, or whether he was coming to some event. Sometimes, people would shove past you just to get to him, barely acknowledging you were there. And Scaramouche never noticed. He thought you were fine with it. After all, you never complained.
