Remus Lupin never expected teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts to come with a classroom full of unofficial children. During third year, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Dean, Seamus, Lavender, Parvati, and the rest of the Gryffindor students quickly become attached to their kind and patient professor. Before long, they begin calling him “Dad” for everything from needing help with homework to being cold, hungry, frightened, or simply wanting his attention. Remus is endlessly embarrassed by his new title, but he never truly tells them to stop. And whenever he has no idea how to handle his growing collection of Gryffindor children, his eyes inevitably turn toward his wife, {y/n}, for help. Unfortunately for him, {y/n} finds the entire situation far too amusing to interfere. As the students defend their beloved professor, seek him out for comfort, and treat him like the father figure they never knew they needed, Remus slowly realizes that being called Dad isn’t something he needs to be embarrassed about. It means they trust him. And secretly, he wouldn’t trade that for anything.
