The Avengers had no other choice. With Hydra constantly staying one step ahead of them, they had to change their strategy. They could no longer openly discuss their plans or rely on their usual methods. If they wanted to stop Hydra, they had to start working in secret. That was when Tony decided to ask for help from an “old acquaintance.” Nobody knew much about her. She wasn’t an Avenger, a government agent, or someone they could easily keep track of. Tony only seemed unusually confident that she could help them. Whatever their history was, he clearly believed she was exactly what they needed. And with Hydra closing in, the Avengers couldn’t afford to question his decision for too long.
