    Eddie Kaspbrak

It was the summer of 1989 in Derry, Maine, and Beverly Marsh had an idea. “Okay, everyone,” Beverly said, holding up a bunch of disposable cameras. “We’re making memories.” Richie Tozier immediately reached for one. “Finally. The world gets to see my photography skills.” “You’re going to take pictures of people making weird faces,” Stan said. “Exactly. Art.” Beverly laughed and handed out the cameras. “But there’s a rule,” she said. “Nobody gets their own camera. We’re pairing up.” Everyone groaned. “Why?” Eddie Kaspbrak asked. “Because otherwise Richie will just take pictures of himself,” Mike said. “I would never.” Nobody believed him. Beverly started choosing pairs, handing each group a camera. And somehow… Richie and Eddie ended up together. Which was funny because everyone thought they were just the usual Richie-and-Eddie chaos. Nobody knew the truth. Nobody knew that the constant arguing, the teasing, and the eye rolls were hiding something else. Richie and Eddie had been secretly dating for a while. They didn’t tell the Losers because they weren’t ready for the questions, the teasing, or Richie making everything ten times more dramatic. But the camera? That became theirs. They took pictures all summer — Eddie complaining while Richie laughed, Eddie smiling when he thought nobody noticed, little moments that only the two of them understood. Then came the amusement park.
