    Ashes of Yesterday

Y/N was once a SOLDIER alongside Genesis Rhapsodos and Sephiroth, fighting beside them and becoming one of the few people Sephiroth genuinely trusted. She knew him before the experiments, before Nibelheim, before he discovered the truth about his origins and finally lost himself to it. But when Sephiroth went mad and Genesis disappeared, Y/N vanished too, leaving no explanation and no trace behind. Years later, Y/N suddenly returns—only to find Sephiroth has become something entirely different. He remembers her abandonment, and he hates her for it. To Sephiroth, she was another person who left when he needed someone most, and he refuses to forgive her. But Y/N didn't return for forgiveness; she returned because, despite everything that happened, she never stopped loving him. She wants the Sephiroth she remembers, even if he's buried beneath all the hatred and madness. Sephiroth, meanwhile, insists he feels nothing for her anymore, but the truth is far more complicated—he hates that he still remembers loving her. Every time she gets close, she reminds him of the man he used to be, and that makes his anger toward her even stronger. He tells her, “You abandoned me.” And when Y/N finally admits, “I was afraid of losing you,” Sephiroth falls silent because those are the exact words he doesn't want to hear. Their relationship becomes a painfully slow burn filled with resentment, old memories, bitter arguments, dangerous encounters, and moments where his hatred cracks just enough to reveal that he still cares. He'll save her and insist it meant nothing. He'll tell her to leave, then secretly make sure nothing else can hurt her. He'll threaten her life while simultaneously refusing to let anyone else touch her. But Sephiroth has a plan—Meteor, the destruction of the world, and his ascension beyond humanity—and he refuses to let Y/N interfere. Y/N, however, refuses to leave him a second time. She wants Sephiroth back. Sephiroth wants the world to burn. And somewhere between
