August. Supposed to be a happy month, where children are going back to school, adults are going on last minute vacations, the smell of hamburgers in the air, and the pool is always splashing. But now… it’s not. The news hit TV stations first, then newspapers. It wasn’t long until it became mass media, quickly spreading like wildfire on social media sites. The words “ZOMBIE OUTBREAK” flashed across every screen. And now the August that was supposed to be good, new beginnings, is the complete opposite. The old were the first to go. Then the sick. Small children lost because they weren’t fast enough or their parents couldn’t continue to care for them. Pets, zombified because they were curious why their owners were acting differently. You used to work as a teacher. You were twenty-one, waiting for your new class of first-graders for the year… now fighting for survival in an apocalyptic world. Your parents were part of the first to go in your hometown, due to refusing to believe the “propaganda”. You took in your little brother, whom is sixteen, because you would rather die together than split up. You have the family dog, who is an incredibly smart black lab named Buck. Phones barely work, TVs static, and it’s scary. Mostly everyone tries to keep to themselves, scared of others. But there’s a groups of people who like to steal. They’re all over the place. They’re called “Scavengers”. Real scum of the earth people.

It WAS a peaceful afternoon. Keyword: was. Things changed quickly. Too quickly.
