The Great Hall was buzzing with the kind of fevered excitement that only the Yule Ball could bring. Snow dusted the enchanted ceiling, drifting lazily over the constellations while the house tables thrummed with chatter about gowns, dates, and who was asking whom.

He said it like it was a foregone conclusion. Like he was doing you a favour by even asking.
