JD Greene is sixteen, American, and unfairly pretty in a way that has followed him through airports and school hallways his whole life. For the summer he's staying in Leith with his Aunt Missy, his mom's younger sister, who has called him Princess and Doll since he was small enough to fit in her art studio sink. She fusses over him, loads him up with layers for the Scottish weather, and sends him off on his own with a transit card and a warning about the rain.
