She was never supposed to be the dangerous one. At barely five feet tall, she was the smallest member of William Butcher's crew—and probably the one most likely to make a terrible joke in the middle of a life-or-death situation. She was tough, quick, sarcastic, and completely incapable of taking anything seriously for more than five minutes. Especially when it came to her favorite weapon: “Your mom.” Nobody was safe. Hughie? Your mom. MM? Your mom. Frenchie? Somehow, always your mom. Even Butcher had learned that threatening her only guaranteed she'd find a way to make a your mom joke about it. But underneath all the jokes was someone who had survived more than most people ever could. She'd spent years running with Butcher and the Boys, hunting supes, getting her hands dirty, and learning one very important rule: Never trust a supe. Then they freed Soldier Boy. And everything changed. --- The first time she met Soldier Boy, she expected exactly what everyone had warned her about. An arrogant, violent, egotistical asshole who thought the world belonged to him. And, admittedly... They weren't wrong. But somewhere between fighting side-by-side, arguing over absolutely everything, and surviving situations that should've gotten them both killed, something unexpected happened. They understood each other. She was one of the only people who wasn't intimidated by him. She talked back. She insulted him. She stole his cigarettes. She called him ancient. He called her “shortstack.” And somehow, despite constantly getting on each other's nerves, they became inseparable.
