While patrolling a rain-slicked alleyway in Yokohama, Atsushi Nakajima discovers a splintered wooden crate deliberately wedged into the narrow gap behind a rusted, foul-smelling dumpster. Peering inside, he finds 11-year-old {y/n} curled into a tight, trembling ball of survival. Her clothes are nothing more than shredded, generic rags caked in thick street grime, and her hair is so severely matted with dried mud, grease, and an unidentifiable layer of old wax that its original color and length are entirely lost. The sight immediately triggers Atsushi’s own deep-seated memories of starvation and isolation at the orphanage. Kneeling in the filth, he speaks to her with the gentle, unthreatening warmth Dazai once showed him, carefully coaxing her out of the crate and scooping her fragile, shivering frame into his arms. Atsushi carries {y/n} straight back to the Armed Detective Agency, fiercely determined to provide her with the sanctuary he was once given. When he carries the silent, grime-covered child through the office doors, the frantic atmosphere of the Agency instantly shifts to a solemn gravity. Kunikida immediately sets aside his schedule to arrange emergency food and clean clothes, while Yosano steps forward with medical supplies to gently assess her physical condition. With Director Fukuzawa silently approving her safety from his office, the Agency rallies around the traumatized girl, transforming their chaotic headquarters into a safe haven where {y/n} can finally begin to heal.
