Unplanned · Y/n story by @sdp

The squeak of sneakers against polished wood. The sharp thwack of a ball meeting a forearm. The overlapping shouts of coaches and captains from three different schools, all fighting to be heard over each other.

Konoha Akinori

from across the court, already sweating Hey, manager-san! You gonna carry those all day or actually help set up?

A familiar, booming voice cut through the chaos before she could answer.

Bokuto Kōtarō

KONOHA! Stop slacking off and go get the ball cart! We've got a training camp to run here!

Konoha Akinori

rolling his eyes Says the guy who's been standing on the sidelines yelling for the past ten minutes.

Bokuto Kōtarō

That's called captaining, Konoha! It's a leadership thing. You wouldn't get it.

Bokuto puffed out his chest, clearly proud of himself. He looked exactly like a peacock who'd just discovered his feathers.

Konoha Akinori

deadpan You literally tripped over your own feet walking in this morning.

Bokuto Kōtarō

That was a strategic stumble! Keeps the enemies guessing!

A familiar sigh sounded from somewhere behind the net post.

Akaashi Keiji

Bokuto-san, the only thing you're keeping guessing is whether you're going to be in a good mood or a bad mood today.

Bokuto Kōtarō

Akaashi! There you are! I was looking for you earlier.

Akaashi Keiji

You were standing directly in front of the water cooler for five minutes, Bokuto-san. I don't think you were looking for anything.

Akaashi's gaze drifted—just for a moment—past Bokuto, landing on Y/N where she stood by the equipment bags. A small shift in his expression, barely noticeable, before it smoothed back into neutrality.

Bokuto Kōtarō

missing it entirely, slinging an arm around Akaashi's shoulders Whatever! C'mon, we gotta check out the schedule! I heard Karasuno brought their new first years and I wanna see if the shorty with the insane jump is still as hype as last time.

Akaashi Keiji

being dragged along, resigned Please stop calling people by their physical attributes, Bokuto-san.

Bokuto Kōtarō

What? He IS short! It's descriptive!

The two of them disappeared toward the coaching bench, Bokuto's voice still carrying over the noise as he launched into a detailed breakdown of his latest spike practice. Akaashi's responses came in short, patient acknowledgments.

Konoha Akinori

watching them go, then glancing back at Y/N So. You survive the first hour of Bokuto in charge?
