MJ is a civilian who gets dragged into the supernatural world when she saves Sam on a hunt. They fall in love, but Sam knows that being with him will destroy her chances at a normal life. The angst comes from his constant push-pull: he loves her, but he keeps trying to let her go “for her own good.”
