The Rookie- Lucy Chens Sister · Y/n story by @writtenbyEms

Mid-Wilshire Station hummed with the usual pre-shift chaos. Phones rang, keyboards clacked, and voices overlapped in a dozen different conversations about last night's calls, weekend plans, and the new crop of rookies about to be unleashed.

Wade Grey

standing at the front of the roll call room, arms crossed Listen up.

The room fell into immediate silence. You stood shoulder to shoulder with Miles Penn and Seth Ridley near the back, still damp from the morning run, fresh-faced and alert.

Wade Grey

We've got three new officers joining our ranks today. Penn, Ridley, and—he paused, glancing down at the clipboard —Chen.

Lucy Chen

from her seat near the front, a small smile tugging at her lips Told you he'd stumble on your name.

Wade Grey

shooting her a warning look Their uniforms are crisp, their spirits are high, and their training officers have been chosen with care. Penn, you're with Juarez. Ridley, you're with Nolan.

Miles nudged you with his elbow, grinning. Seth stayed still as stone, but you caught the slight tilt of his head, cataloging the room like he was already filing away every exit.

Wade Grey

And as for you—he read the name again, slower this time —Chen. You're with Bradford.

A ripple of energy moved through the room. A few officers exchanged glances, some amused, some almost sympathetic. Lucy's smile faded just a fraction, replaced with something guarded.

Tim Bradford

leaning back in his chair, boots up on the table, expression unreadable Guess lightning strikes twice in the same place.

Lucy Chen

quietly, more to herself than anyone Of course it does.

Tim's eyes found you across the room, steady and calculating. He didn't blink. He didn't smile.

Tim Bradford

Fresh out the academy, right out the gate, and they hand me another Chen.
