A young princess is secretly married to King Lucien, the heir of the kingdom her family has been at war with for generations. Her parents tell her the marriage is necessary to finally bring peace between their kingdoms, but they never tell her who she has married. She is only given a piece of parchment to sign and is forbidden from ever meeting her husband. For three years, the princess lives separated from Lucien, knowing she is married to a man she has never seen. She often wonders what he is like and whether he hates her because of the war between their families. Then the war suddenly begins again. Her parents blame Lucien’s kingdom, but she begins to suspect that they are hiding something. Determined to discover the truth, she secretly leaves the castle and travels across the border to find her husband. When she finally reaches Lucien, she discovers that he never betrayed her kingdom. Instead, evidence reveals that her own family secretly restarted the war and planned to use their marriage to gain an advantage over his kingdom. The two realize that they were both victims of their families' hatred, forced into a marriage but never given the chance to know each other. With the war approaching, the princess chooses to stay beside Lucien rather than return to the family that lied to her. What began as a marriage written on parchment slowly becomes something real, as they choose each other freely for the first time.
