Years after Damon Salvatore buried the woman he believed was the love of his life, Y/N returns to Mystic Falls—but not as the woman he remembers. Having survived her own grave and years of loneliness, she found an unexpected family in the Mikaelsons, particularly Rebekah, who considers her a sister. When the Mikaelsons return to Mystic Falls, Y/N reluctantly follows, determined to keep her past buried. But at their masquerade ball, she is dramatically revealed as the mysterious woman standing beside Elijah—and Damon realizes the impossible: The woman he mourned, buried, and never stopped loving is alive. But Y/N believes Damon abandoned her, and facing the man she still loves may hurt more than dying ever did.
