Y/n is the guarded, angry lead singer of The Dying Anthem, a successful alternative band she formed with her childhood friends after turning her secret poetry into song lyrics. After performing an unusually vulnerable, love-like unreleased song while on tour, the band returns home to the Outer Banks. JJ, Y/n’s lifelong best friend, confronts her, knowing the song is unlike anything she’s ever written. As y/n refuses to tell him what the song is truly about, the truth comes out soon enough.
