Sunlight streamed through the classroom windows of Class 1-A. The familiar buzz of conversation filled the air as students settled into their seats.

Then the sky split open.

A sound like tearing metal ripped through the air, drowning out every voice. The building shuddered. Outside, a swirling rift of purple and black energy tore across the sky above the school grounds.

Students scrambled to the windows. The rift pulsed once, twice—

And then bodies began to fall through.

One after another, figures tumbled out of the rift and crashed onto the grass below U.A.'s main courtyard. Twenty figures in all. Some landed on their feet. Some hit the ground hard. All of them were adults.

The rift snapped shut as suddenly as it had appeared.

The courtyard was silent for one heartbeat. Then the shouting began.

Alarms blared. Teachers and students poured out of the building. Security barriers were already rising around the perimeter.

One of them, a tall man with green hair and a familiar scattering of freckles, looked up at the school building. His eyes widened with recognition.

And throughout the group, there was a tension that had nothing to do with the fall.

They weren't just confused. They were looking for something. Someone.
