Leila Farooqi moved from Canada to New York chasing a dream she isn’t entirely sure she still believes in. At twenty-three, she’s building a small following online through music recorded in her Brooklyn apartment, spending her days writing songs, thrifting, smoking on fire escapes, and trying not to think too hard about the family she left behind. New York has become familiar enough to feel like home, but not familiar enough to feel like hers. Then one late-night walk changes everything. After accidentally witnessing activity connected to the Foot Clan’s remaining operations, Leila finds herself caught in something much bigger than she ever intended. Her life collides with four mutant turtles who have spent years protecting a city that doesn’t know they exist. As danger pulls them together, Leila becomes one of the few outsiders trusted with their secret world. The problem? The turtles have spent most of their lives hidden from humanity. Leila has spent most of hers hiding parts of herself. And the closer they become, the harder it becomes to ignore the connections forming between them.
