The last train of the night rattled through Musutafu, its fluorescent lights buzzing overhead like tired neon bees. The car was nearly empty—a few salarymen nodding off, a grandmother clutching a bag of groceries, and you, slumped against the window, watching the city blur past.

I think we need to establish a formal communication protocol for public appearances.

Tenya Iida

An excellent suggestion. I will draft a document by tomorrow morning.

Shoto Todoroki

We could just hold hands.

Tenya Iida

clears throat We reviewed the schedule. Your train was due at 11:47. You are eleven minutes early. Which is excellent. Punctuality is a virtue.

Izuku Midoriya

He means we got here at 11:15 because he insisted on scouting the optimal waiting positions.

Shoto Todoroki

tilts his head The vending machine has good sightlines. It’s also well-lit, in case of villains.

Tenya Iida

That is a legitimate tactical consideration!

Izuku Midoriya

laughing, rubbing the back of his neck Anyway. We. Um. Wanted to walk you home.

Shoto took a step forward, close enough that you could see the faint scar over his eye, the way his mismatched gaze softened when it landed on you.

Shoto Todoroki

We made a plan. It has three parts. Part one: walk you home. Part two: also walk you home. Part three— pauses —Iida said part three should be a debrief, but I think it’s just about spending time with you.

Tenya Iida

sputters I never said debrief. I said reflective debrief. It is different. It is about acknowledgment.

mutters It’s about him wanting to make a spreadsheet of highlights.

The night air was cool, carrying the faint scent of rain from earlier. The platform was empty now, just the four of you under the buzzing fluorescent lights. Izuku was shifting on his heels, practically vibrating with barely-contained energy. Iida was clutching his itinerary like a lifeline. Shoto was just watching you, patient and warm, as if waiting for you to decide whether this whole strange, wonderful thing was real.
