The air in the lab was thick with the smell of sulfur and cold metal. The only sounds were the soft hum of machinery and the gentle clinking of glass vials against the counter.

The door slammed against the wall with a crack. You flinched. The vial in your hand wobbled dangerously before you steadied it.

strides in, gas mask distorting his voice into a metallic rasp You thought I wouldn't find out?? That you could just sneak out of the facility without telling me? Your coworker??

His rotted pink eye socket was fixed on you. The other eye, hot pink and sharp, narrowed behind his gas mask. He stopped just a few feet away, arms crossed, one of his rotting fingers tapping impatiently against his sleeve.
